Heffy Doodle Release Blog Hop!

Hello, Crafty Friends!

Thanks for stopping by today to join the fun for the newest Heffy Doodle release!

I've got a colorful project for you today that uses one of the new stamp sets and one of the new stencils in the release. So let's dive right in!

I broke out my Distress Oxide inks and used the Heffy Doodle tape to adhere my stencil on to a piece of cardstock. Using an ink blending tool, I blended my oxide inks in a rainbow order on to my card panel.

I stamped my images on to white cardstock and then colored them in with copic markers. I used a circle die to cut out the area of the panel with the images on it and then glued fun foam to the back. I adhered it to my rainbow card panel (off to the side), and then trimmed off the edge. I then created a black frame using two of the circle dies and black cardstock and then glued that down to the panel for a finished edge.

I adhered the panel on to a cut and scored 4.25 x 5.5 inch card base and stamped a sentiment on to a scrap strip of cardstock. I adhered that sentiment strip on to the card to finish everything off! For added detail, I added some dots with a white gel pen which made the little veggie images even more adorable (if that's even possible!)

Back to Basics with Catherine Pooler!

Hey Friends!

The Catherine Pooler genuisues are hosting a super fun event right now, and I'm here to tell you all about it!

You can find the awesome videos in the Back to Basics series here and you can read all about the series here , but basically the big idea behind this series is to encourage cardmakers not to forget their basic stamping and cardmaking skills! Sometimes we tend to get bogged down with pressure to create these really elaborate cards, but often times--a clean and simple card with just the basics has the most impact!

Today's card utilizes one simple technique: masking. Everything else is really basic and easy!

Start out by cutting and scoring a 4.25 x 5.5 inch card base.

Use a piece of masking tape, washi tape, or even a post-it note to mask off the right side of your card, and then using the different pattern stamps in the For Everything set and rainbow colors of CP inks, stamp your border section on the left side of the card.

After you've finished creating your left side, you can take off your masking component and then stamp a simple sentiment and image in the bottom right corner of the card.

I chose to add a strip of gold glitter paper to my card, and I also mounted an additional panel with fun foam and glued it on to the card, just to give some added dimension and interest.

So shush your internal voice telling you that your cards have to be really complex and go back to the basics! To add some fun to the series, the Catherine Pooler shop is offering a super fun sale!

Run over to the shop and stock up on some essentials to get your crafting mojo back!

A Rainbow of Thanks

Welcome, Friends!

Thanks for stopping by today for another card that features the new Wild and Wonderful Release from Catherine Pooler Designs. If you still haven't checked out the release, you can find all the products here.

For some reason, every time I create with my Catherine Pooler products, I'm always inspired to do rainbows and really vibrantly colorful projects.

Today is no exception!

I used the Kaleidoscope Background stamp and the Carnivale Ink collection to make this lil' beauty. In case you didn't know this, the Catherine Pooler inks blend SO WELL! I love that these inks take all the frustration out of ink blending. It's a joy to create with products that make creating effortless!

I cut a 4.25 x 5.5 inch card panel, masked off the bottom portion of the card with post it note tape, inked up the background stamp with Versamark ink, and then laid my cardstock panel on top of the stamp to apply the ink. I was careful not to shift the paper! I applied my white embossing powder and then heat set it.

Now it's time for the fun part!

I used an ink blending tool to apply the inks on to my card panel, watching the embossing portion resist the ink. I used a cloth to buff off the excess ink. I kept the post it note tape on the panel this entire time, knowing that I wanted to stamp my sentiment on the bottom portion of the card.

I used a sentiment from the Note of Thanks set and Midnight ink to stamp the finishing touches and then reveled in the rainbow beauty!

Thanks again for stopping by today, and happy crafting!

A Colorful Thanks + Sentiment Background + Catherine Pooler Release

Hey There!

Thanks for wandering over to my blog today!

I'm still crushing on this new Wild and Wonderful Release from Catherine Pooler Designs. There are some really beautiful stamp sets in the release as well as TWO NEW INKS, so what's not to love about that?!

You can find the entire release here. The Wonderful Wildflowers set is my favorite!

Today I'm sharing a simple card that carries a huge punch. The Note of Thanks stamp set has some great sentiments in it and is one of the most well-designed "thank you" sets I've seen in a while.

I cut down a 4.25 x 5.5 inch card panel from watercolor paper  and taped it down to a hard surface. Since I planned to apply watercolor, I taped the paper down so that it would lay flat and take the water better.

I then pulled out my Gansai Tambi watercolors and laid a rainbow wash of colors down on my card panel. After I heat set that card panel, I applied some baby powder all over the panel since I knew I wanted to emboss and didn't want the powder to stick to the panel.

After I prepped the card panel with baby powder, I laid it in my MISTI and arranged my stamps all across the panel. I stamped them with Versamark ink, and then applied white embossing powder before heat setting it.

I had a few gaps in my panel, so I placed some stamps in the open areas again and repeated the embossing process until my panel was full.

After the panel was complete, I adhered it to a cut and scored 4.25 x 5.5 inch card base to finish off my project.

Thanks for stopping by and happy stamping!

I Just Love Your Face!

Hey There!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Over at The StampNation, we're having an awesome class called "Eat, Sleep, Create!" There have been tons of great tutorials and you definitely won't leave without being totally inspired! You can find details on the class here.

Have you ever done something that totally scares you? I find that the older I get, the less inclined I am to take risks. I like my security, and I like staying in the comfort zone of things I feel I'm good at.

Can you relate?

Well, leave all your fears behind you before starting this class, cause it's going to take you WAY out of your crafty comfort zone! I'm not a messy cardmaker that just slaps color and other things down on a card front and just "makes it work." Oh--and doodling? Lettering? FORGET ABOUT IT. Totally not in my wheelhouse.

But after watching all the awesome tutorials for the class, I was totally inspired to tackle some of these things that scare me! It's tough for me to create things and just put them out there when I don't have the safety net of a stamp or something pre-designed.

So let go and just have fun--it's a tough hurdle to jump, but I did it and so can you! You can follow along with this card I made and try your own design--you'll probably be amazed at what you can create! Letting go and just having fun is also really therapeutic and a fantastic way to get your craft mojo back!

Start off by laying down a watercolor wash on to a card. You can choose any colors or any mediums. I chose the inks from the Life of the Party Collection from Catherine Pooler Designs. After you have your background all set up, it's time to pick up your pencil and just letter away! Be sure to watch Shawna Clingerman's tutorial in the class to get some helpful tips and tricks on creating your letters. After I doodled my words on to my card front, I went over them with a black Tombow Marker.

After the card front was done, I thought it looked a little bland. So this is where I had to just let go of my expectations and doodle away! I just scribbled some simple doodles until I was satisfied with the outcome. I then used some Tonic Nuvo Drops to add some extra dimension.

I was slightly afraid to share this card because it was so out of my comfort zone, but I had to learn to just have fun and craft, regardless of what people (including myself) think of the outcome!

Lucky Charm Release 3 Blog Hop and Giveaway!

Welcome, Friends!

If you've just come the amazing Carissa Wiley's blog, then you're in the right place! Also, I never thought I would say that sentence. But let's not dwell on the surreal feeling of that.

Thanks for joining in the fun to celebrate Heffy Doodle's Release 3! I was just dying a little inside with cuteness overload when I saw the sketches for this release a long time ago.

Today I've got this colorful leprechaun card for your enjoyment. I never really thought of leprechauns and St. Patrick's Day as being great inspiration for cute cards, but these are totally adorable!

I started off by stamping the images from the Lucky Friends stamp set on to white cardstock. I colored the images with copic markers, used the matching dies and then set them aside.

Leprechauns immediately make me think of pots of gold, which then immediately make me think of RAINBOWS--how about you?! Because I knew I wanted to incorporate a rainbow into this card, I was searching for a creative way to do that.

Enter the Stitched Strips of Ease dies! They make PERFECT rainbow strips!

I colored the stitched strips of ease with my copic markers and then glued them to my card base.

After I had my diagonal rainbow going on, I mounted my leprechaun images on to some foam tape and then placed them on my card base so that it looked like the leprechaun was sitting on top of the rainbow with all his gold next to him!

I finished off the card by stamping my sentiment on to the card base in black ink. I  noticed that my leprechaun looked a little flat, so I added some details to his hat and his socks with a white gel pen.

Ok, I know you guys just skimmed this post to get to the good stuff, so I won't keep you in suspense any longer.
