Studio Katia New Release Blog Hop

Hello, Everyone!

Welcome to my stop on the Studio Katia blog hop to take a closer look at the newest release!

I hope you'll go by the Studio Katia shop and check out all the products in the new release here. So many fun goodies to add to your crafty stash!

On the blog hop today, we've got lots of fun projects and inspiration lined up - and of course, a chance to win some prizes!

For today's card, I created a simple shaker card which I hope you'll be inspired to try and make yourself. I don't make a lot of shaker cards because they tend to be more work than I want to put in on a card, but this one was pretty simple to put together.

So let's get to it!

Begin by cutting and scoring a 4.25 x 5.5 inch piece of cardstock and set it aside to use as your card base.

Cut another 4.25 x 5.5 inch piece of white cardstock and, using the Zig Zig Striped background stamp, stamp your background design on to your white cardstock. (I used Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide Ink).

Next, using the Fancy Scallop Hearts die, cut a window out of the stamped panel you just created.

Now, here's where you need to plan out the shaker window.

Place your card base on your surface, and lay the stamped window panel you just created on top of that card base. Using a pencil (and a light hand!). trace the cut out heart window area on to your card base. This traced area will tell you where you need to put your shaker bits and pieces!

Now it's time to create the background of your cardbase where the shaker bits will settle.

I tore several strips of washi tape that I had in my stash, and placed them in the traced area of my card base like this:

Having those pencil lines there helped me make sure I was covering the area that would be visible through the top window, but it also helped me not waste washi tape (since this one happens to be a favorite of mine!).

Now, it's back to the window stamped panel!

Turn your panel over and apply adhesive around the outside edge of the window you have cut. Next,  using the new Acetate Sheets, cut a piece of acetate to cover the window and lay it down flat on the adhesive you just applied like this:

Going back to your washi tape cardbase, apply double sided foam tape around the window you traced (and the same area that is now covered in washi tape). Continue to apply foam tape around the rest of the card, until the entire base (except the exposed washi tape part) is covered.

Now, select your shaker bits and pour them into the empty washi tape area! I chose the Poseidon Crystals, Red Hearts Crystals, Blossom Sparkle Crystals, and the Majestic Sequins embellishments since they were perfect for this valentine's card!

Take your stamped window panel (with the acetate over the window) and now lay it over your card base, lining up the edges and pressing down on the foam tape to secure everything in place.

Time for finishing touches!

To create the frame around the window on top of your card, tape together the two Fancy Scallop Hearts die pieces, leaving a bit of a gap all the way around like this:

Lay the dies on to a piece of red cardstock and run it through your die cut machine, and you will have your frame!

Using liquid adhesive, glue that red frame on the window to give the front of the card that finished edge.

Choose your sentiment (I chose this "happy heart day" sentiment  from the Lovely Words die set), and then die cut it or stamp it out.

Adhere the stamped or die cut sentiment to the front of your window, and then pat yourself on the back for a beautifully finished shaker card!

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today and joining the fun!
